Celebrate one of the most colourful and unusual Mexican festivals at these Day of the Dead London events. With celebrations and authentic Mexican food all across London, there’s no excuse not to get involved.
What does it mean this Mexican celebration!
“El Dia de los Muertos”, known as the Day of the Dead is a Mexican festival where families and friends join together to celebrate the lives of departed loved ones. Central to the festivities is the ofrenda, an altar piled high with flowers, food, and other offerings.
I have beautiful childhood memories of this celebration, we used to choose a place in the house to build an altar with religious images, place the picture of the deceased relatives in our family on a traditional table cloth decorated with confetti of different colors. Thereafter, we placed food and candles or oil lamps. We used to leave “ofrendas”, food as a gift to our departed family members. Great lovely memories!
If you don’t have the chance to make it all the way over to Latin America for this year Day of the Dead, London restaurants, bars, and cultural venues are putting on Mexican themed events to help you join in with all the fun.
KANKUN LUCHADOR will spice up this year the FGV Dead of the Dead party 2014.
